Information from the WOC organisation

Based an opinion poll amongst the main orienteering teams of Europe, the organizing committee WOC2012 has decided to change the dates of the training camp in June 2012. This training will now take place after the World Cup in St. Gallen, from 25 to 30 June 2012 and not as announced in Bulletin 2 from 18 to 22 June. See the attached programme.

The dates on which we are allowed to use the different maps are laid down in an agreement with the Service of the Forests of the Canton Vaud. In order for us to maintain access to these forests for future orienteering events (once the World Championships are over), no changes will be permitted to the specified dates.

The course planners of WOC 2012 will prepare the training courses to avoid the forbidden and ecologically sensitive areas in close collaboration with the person responsible for the environment. The controls will be put out on the days of training only. The printed maps will be sold to the teams according to their requests, provided the orders are received within the deadlines. The maps will be given to the teams one week before the training. Training will only be possible on the fixed dates and on the printed courses.

Other training opportunities exist in the Canton Bern, Fribourg and Neuchâtel according to the list. The relevant clubs are responsible for selling their own maps, and defining on which days training events can be held. The WOC committee is not responsible for these training events.
