The 5 stages and their terrains
Stage 1, Sunday, 15 July: Sprint at lakeside, in a park, near the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee. A very technical run, which will be more difficult than expected. Stage 2, Monday, 16 July: Normal distance race on a plateau of the Jura Vaudois. The dense forest is interspersed with varying relief and rocks, canyons and large depressions. Beautiful view over the lake and its surroundings.
Stage 3, Tuesday, 17 July: Middle distance race in the region of Col de la Givrine (Nyon, St-Cergue). The typical Jura area combines gentle, elusive formed hills with rocky sections.
Stage 4, Wednesday, 18 July: Long distance race in semi-open, alpine terrain between Villars-sur-Ollon and Les Diablerets. In winter, this area is known as a ski resort. In summer it invites for hiking and to stay at the two lakes Lac de Bretaye and Lac de Chavonnes. The area is only accessible by a funicular or by chair lift. During the race, you should take a few moments to enjoy the extraordinary scenery. Stage 5, Friday, 20 July: Final race with chase start at the largest forest of the Canton of Vaud, on the northern edge of the city of Lausanne. The Jorat, located at 900 m, is a forest with different faces, fast, but interspersed with many ditches. For the courses, the most beautiful areas of this terrain were selected. Speed and error-free, direct run to the controls are the deciding aspects for the top rankings.
